White XLT

The Whites XLT is one of the best multi-purpose metal detectors on the market. Whether your hobby is coin shooting, relic hunting, or just general purpose searching, it is a great machine for just about anything. But While Whites XLT is for the most part a plug-and-play machine, there are advanced features that can be used to take advantage of the modern technology with which it’s equipped.

The XLT has plenty of different modes depending on the search environment you are in. If you’re going relic hunting, there is a pre-programmed relic hunting configuration that maximizes your ability to pick up relics. There is also a preconfigured setting for coin shooting. If you’re not comfortable with one of the five presets available on the XLT, you can go into advanced mode and start to tweak the settings. If you tweak and test with items in the ground, you can start to build a program that is custom tailored to your specific conditions.

One of the most useful things about the Whites XLT metal detector is the fact that it is extremely good about pinpointing extremely small items. This is great when you’re finding small coins and very small buttons. But on the flip side that means that you’re registering a lot of junk if it’s there in the ground. So the White XLT can find just about anything at pretty good depth, but you need to be prepared to dig a lot especially if you’re in an area with a  lot of trash.

In addition to being a very sensitive and easily tweaked machine, the White XLT is also very light and has a long battery life. It has a rechargeable battery pack that can run about 4-5 hours on one charge really well. After that you may want to replace the battery just so you have the right sensitivity in the machine. It also weighs only four pounds and has a nice arm strap that keeps it well balanced when you’re sweeping across the ground.

So in short, the White’s XLT is one of the best metal detectors on the market for general metal detecting. In fact it is probably second only to the Treasure Hunter XJ9-3050 metal detector for all purpose hunting. If you can’t find a program on its display that suits your particular condition, you can always reprogram it. It’s pretty light, very well balanced, and a joy to use. With its decent battery life and long list of features, the White XLT is a metal detector that will be useful well into the future.
